Red Bull Elektropedia: The Book

On Facebook I found a message from Ben Van Alboom about the Red Bull Elektropedia project:

“The art publisher LUDION (known for its books on magritte, spilliaert and matisse, but also luc tuymans, victor horta and the antwerp six) wants to publish a book about the history of the belgian club and electronic music scene. without going into all the details, we’re even hoping to turn it into a series of books because

a) the history is too expansive for one book
b) we want the book to have the feel of really expensive magazine
c) we want to work with visual material first and foremost (so not a lot of text but plenty of flyers, photos, record covers, magazine/newspaper articles, etcetera)

and that (c) is exactly why i’m mailing you boys & girls.

a lot of you have already been sending in your personal collections but for those of you who still have ‘elektropedia’ written on their to do list: DEADLINE FOR THE BOOK IS AUGUST 1!”

Werchter preview: Elbow

Elbow

I fell in love with the music of Guy Garvey and friends the first time I heard ‘Powder Blue’ from their debut album ‘Asleep in the Back’. It must have been somewhere in 2001.
Since then they published three other studio albums: Cast of Thousands, Leaders of the Free World and The Seldom Seen Kid. The latest won the 2008 Mercury Prize for best British Album. And in 2009 they received the Brit Award for the best British group.
